Companion Studio · Closed Beta

The easy-daw Engine, on your desktop.

The browser is where you create. Companion Studio is the native audio engine that unlocks low-latency recording and monitoring, professional audio interfaces, and local processing — while your project stays exactly where you left it in easy-daw.

Release notes
  • Real VST3 plug-in hosting via the native sidecar — scan, load and use your installed VST3 instruments and effects.
  • VST3 plug-in state is now fully saved and restored with your project (component + controller state, Steinberg-conformant).
  • New secure pairing: a short 6-character verification code with explicit Approve/Deny in the Companion (replaces the old 8-digit code).
  • Bridge now listens on port 47800.
  • Crash attribution and degraded mode: a misbehaving plug-in is identified and isolated instead of taking down the session.
  • Every platform build is now compiled natively for its own architecture (x64/arm64 build-flag fix).
  • Windows now ships as a proper one-click NSIS installer instead of a portable ZIP.
Known limitations
  • This beta is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper will show a first-run warning — see the installation guide.
  • ASIO drivers on Windows require Steinberg's ASIO SDK; the Companion falls back to WASAPI-friendly buffer sizes.

Why am I seeing a security warning?

easy-daw Companion Studio is currently part of our Closed Beta. As an independent software company, we've prioritized engineering, stability, and performance before purchasing Apple and Microsoft code-signing certificates.

Because of this, Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper may display a warning the first time you install the application. These warnings are expected for unsigned beta software. Code signing and notarization are planned before public launch.

Verify the SHA-256 checksum above matches the downloaded file for extra peace of mind.

Support easy-daw

easy-daw is built independently. Optional contributions help fund:

  • infrastructure (servers, storage, bandwidth)
  • development hardware (audio interfaces, monitors)
  • AI services (mix coaching & chord assistance)
  • cloud services
  • code-signing certificates (Apple + Microsoft)
  • ongoing engineering

Supporting easy-daw is completely optional. Bug reports, feedback, referrals, and the music you create with easy-daw are equally appreciated.
